In this workshop we will explore the content and methods of artistic practice and the question of how they can be used in vocational schools. Our special focus is on the way of mediation.
Cultural education has achieved no formal status in the curricula of initial vocational training - ie in vocational schools - in Germany, indeed throughout Europe. Hard to believe, if you know that a striking argument for cultural education in education is the acquisition of personal skills and competences.
In the planned October event, we will develop a program on how to make traineeships with artistic and cultural methods far more sustainable, interesting, and practical, and how to enable them to do so. Given the fact that every 4th apprentice terminates his education, this is urgently needed. We are convinced that young people in vocational education benefit from a cultural education that helps them to contribute to culture and society, thus giving them a stronger voice and encouraging their personal development.
